Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has reiterated his commitment to bring governance to the doorsteps of Lagos residents if elected as Governor of the State in the 2019 general election. Sanwo-Olu who addressed over 3,000 artisans, traditional rulers and community leaders at a town hall meeting held at the Blue Roof within the premises of the Lagos Television said governance should be about the people and solving citizens’ problems. The APC candidate, however, reminded the different groups that the meeting was not a campaign but an avenue for everyone to meet, greet and chart a path towards campaign activities. “we have not started campaign. Deadliest fire in California history kills 42 people

The death toll from a huge blaze in northern California rose to 42 on Monday, making it the deadliest wildfire in state history. Thousands of firefighters spent a fifth day digging battle lines to contain the “Camp Fire” in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains north of Sacramento, while search teams were on a grim mission to recover the dead. “As of today, an additional 13 human remains have been recovered, which brings the total number to 42,” Sheriff Kory Honea told a news conference. The blaze is “the deadliest wildland fire in California history,” Honea said. Although it is difficult to be certain due to inconsistencies in record keeping and categorization, the Camp Fire appears to deadliest American wildfire in a century — since the Cloquet Fire killed an estimated 1,000 people in Minnesota in 1918. Eniola Akinkuotu, Abuja The acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Mr. Ibrahim Magu, has challenged a journalist questioning the source of wealth of All Progressives Congress chieftain, Bola Tinubu. He simply asked the journalist to write a petition against Tinubu and substantiate his allegations. Magu gave the charge in Abuja on Monday while fielding questions from reporters at an event held in commemoration of his third year in office. A journalist had asked Magu when he would probe Tinubu who had purportedly claimed in a video in August that he was richer than Osun State. The journalist also asked why Magu was refusing to answer questions on the video which allegedly captured the Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, receiving bribes from contractors. APC crisis: Oshiomhole opens up on being arrested by DSS, blasts PDP

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole, has denied that he was arrested, detained and granted administrative bail by the Department of State Services (DSS), after nine hours of interrogation. Oshiomhole, speaking with editors in Lagos, insisted that he saw DSS once and had conversation with them. “It was not an arrest or detention”, he said. His words, “The conversation centered around APC primaries. The question now is whether or not it is the DSS job to interfere in a political party’s issues. And if there’s an allegation of corruption, it is the responsibility of EFCC and ICPC.” Oshiomhole dismissed the rumour that DSS rescheduled another meeting with him. 2019 election: Magnus Abe’s name missing in INEC’s Rivers guber list

The aspiration of Senator Magnus Abe to become the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers State has been dashed. This is after the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, published the list of governorship candidates for the 2019 election in the state on Friday. The aspirant produced by the Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi faction of party, Tonye Dele Cole was recognized as the party’s flagbearer by INEC, in the list pasted at its office in Port Harcourt. A Deputy National Secretary of the APC, Victor Giadom was also published as Cole’s running mate. Both Cole and Giadom are products of an indirect primary election. Also shortlisted are Governor Nyesom Wike and Dr (Mrs) Ipalibo Harry as governorship candidate and running mate for the PDP. According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, the President is scheduled to participate in the first edition of the Paris Peace Forum slated for November 11 to 13. 50-year-old woman delivered of quadruplets

A 50-year-old woman has become the UK’s oldest mother of quadruplets, defying million-to-one odds. Tracey Britten, a grandmother-of-eight, has hailed her IVF babies a “miracle” after they were delivered by a team of 35 medics. Ms Britten, from London, said she “can’t wait to get them home” after she gave birth to her quadruplets — three girls and a boy – by Cesarean last week,   Evening Standard has reported. The mother, who also has three grown-up children and eight grandchildren, described the experience as a “whirlwind.” She said: “It’s been a whirlwind and I’m so grateful.
