NBC bans ‘This is Nigeria’ by Falz

This was disclosed in a letter from the NBC dated 6th August 2018 and signed by its Zonal Director, Igomu Onoja.
According to NBC, a part of the song – “This is Nigeria; look how we living now everybody be criminal” has been tagged “vulgar” and the song is now declared “unfit for radio”.
Also banned from being aired was singer, Wande Cole’s song: ‘Iskaba’ alongside Olamide’s ‘See Mary, See Jesus’.
DAILY POST recalls that Muslim Right Concern(MURIC) had requested Falz to take down “This is Nigeria” video over some “offensive” scenes which, they claimed, ridicules their religion.
This sparked controversy online as some Muslims criticised MURIC for not giving an ultimatum to Boko Haram and murderous herdsmen.
However, Falz, in response, said MURIC’s allegation of a hate video is baseless as the girls in hijab dancing ‘Shaku Shaku’ in the video symbolizes entertainment being a distraction from everything that is happening in the society.

Buhari leaves Abuja to participate in peace forum in France

The Presidency says President Muhammadu Buhari departs Abuja on Friday for Paris, France. According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, the President is scheduled to participate in the first edition of the Paris Peace Forum slated for November 11 to 13. Adesina said the forum, organised by the French Government and a number of Non-Governmental Organisations, was based on the “simple idea that international cooperation is key to tackling global challenges and ensuring durable peace.” The presidential spokesman said the Nigerian President would join the United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, and other world leaders in discussing contributions towards global peace while underscoring the imperative of collective action.
