SpaceX billed Elon Musk's Tesla Roadster as on "an endless road trip past Mars" when it launched in February. However, the car and its pilot have now reached their farthest point from the sun before swinging back into orbit. The Roadster has reached its first apogee from the sun according to the Where is Roadster? website, run by Ben Pearson, and as reported by technology news site Ars Technica. While the Cape Canaveral launch of Elon Musk's Falcon Heavy - the most powerful in the world - was a big success, the red sports car overshot its touted mark for Mars. Its orbit will bring it close to Mars - and to Earth - in two years' time, with it being at its closest to Earth at 51.7m km (32m miles) on 6 November 2020. Rather than entering Mars' orbit, the Tesla looks to be on a long-term path towards the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. The websit...
(CNN) — Various sex toys, including a vibrator, were mistaken for a bomb, causing a partial closure at Berlin's Schönefeld Airport on Tuesday. Employees at the airport were conducting routine X-rays of luggage when they spotted "suspicious content in a luggage piece," according to the federal police in Berlin. However, he was reluctant to properly explain the contents of the bag -- possibly because of embarrassment, according to a federal police spokesperson -- saying instead that his luggage contained "technical stuff." After an hour-long investigation involving a bomb squad, authorities eventually determined that the ...
A 50-year-old woman has become the UK’s oldest mother of quadruplets, defying million-to-one odds. Tracey Britten, a grandmother-of-eight, has hailed her IVF babies a “miracle” after they were delivered by a team of 35 medics. Ms Britten, from London, said she “can’t wait to get them home” after she gave birth to her quadruplets — three girls and a boy – by Cesarean last week, Evening Standard has reported. The mother, who also has three grown-up children and eight grandchildren, described the experience as a “whirlwind.” She said: “It’s been a whirlwind and I’m so grateful. One of the quads has had so many tubes around her that I haven’t seen her face properly. “The babies have not all been together yet, each hooked up to different machines.” The newborns are all said to be doing well in London’s University College Hospital, where they were delivered, and Ms Britten said she hoped they would be home for Christmas. The ...
